A SpiceJet flight from Srinagar and headed to Bangalore via Chandigarh and New Delhi was held up in Chandigarh after a major sabotage scare which came to light when a man deplaned the Boeing without the authorities noticing it.
The passenger, Constable Raj Kumar of Delhi Police, boarded the plane in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Though 8-10 members of his group were on the plane, he is said to have deplaned in Chandigarh.
The flight, SpiceJet 509, underwent a sabotage check in Chandigarh, according to a passenger aboard the plane. A foreigner couple also deplaned after coming to know of the vanishing passenger. They are said to have insisted that as per international norms, the luggage in the plane had to be checked after deplaning all passengers, SpiceJet authorities are reported to have said that Indian norms don't specify such mandatory deplaning before luggage check. Passengers were abroad the plane when the sabotage check was on.
