Patna: Former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi will donate Rs 1.5 lakh compensation amount he will get from Jet Airways to voluntary group Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti.
Modi had sustained spinal injury seven years ago in a JetLite bus at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, due to negligence on the part of its driver. Following the injury, Modi got it treated at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre at Vasant Kunj in Delhi, and also filed a case in the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (CDRF), Delhi.
The forum chairman, C K Chaturvedi, along with judges Ritu Gardia and S R Choudhary, asked Jet Airways to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh as fine and Rs 50,000 as court expenses to Modi. "I have not yet received the compensation money as ordered by the consumer forum. Once I receive it, I will donate it to Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti, a voluntary body," Modi said.
