Plea to name Kochi airport after Adi Sankara

Kochi: Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) on Saturday urged Prime minister Narendra Modi to name the International airport at nearby Nedumbassery after Adi Sankara.
The parishad, a socio cultural organization of the RSS, has sent a memorandum in this regard to the Prime Minister making the request, it said in a press release here.
The BVP had taken the matter at the national level in 2000. The then National President, Justice J V Gupta had requested then civil aviation minister to do the necessary work to this effect. But the unexpected death of Justice Gupta in 2001 left the matter unattended, National Secretary, K P Harihara Kumar, said.
