With ACs off in scorching heat, Srinagar airport boils

Srinagar: Amid scorching summer heat the Srinagar International Airport is literally boiling at around 45 degrees Celsius as the Air-Conditioning(AC) system is off –mocking at the government claims of holding meetings-after-meetings to improve services there.
Observers said given the design of the terminal building, the facility heats with sunshine much the way a glasshouse does, to be at some 10 to 15 degrees Celsius higher than the normal room temperature.
Perspiring, this is what Sageer Ahmed was shocked to see when his smart phone signaled 45 degrees Celsius temperature.
Passengers complained that it was their worst experience of visiting any airport. Manzoor Khan, a frequent flier said: “The situation here is even worse than what could be the scene at any countryside railway platform.”
Sources said temperature inside the terminal building is so high that most of the visitors feel restless while some have even fainted. In the ongoing month of Ramadhan the Muslim passengers on fast complained of bearing the worst. “I am heading for Umrah but the heat here is unbearable than what it could be at my destination,” said the passenger waiting for departure flight.
