Aviation Min cracks whip on struggling Air India

Aviation minister Gajapati Raju has laid down a strict set of instructions to the Air India management as the government hopes to revive the national carrier. If any Air India flight is delayed beyond half an hour, civil aviation minister A Gajapathi Raju wants to know the reason.
He has also sought details of route-wise profits of the airline. Raju has urged Air India officials to make more efforts to fill business and first class seats which often go empty, causing the airline significant revenue losses. A controversial decision of the new minister could be rationalisation of manpower at Air India. Air India has almost halved its manpower by transferring many to the two new subsidiary companies.
