Senior forcing me to withdraw sexual harassment complaint: DGCA staffer

Mumbai: A senior official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), who is being probed for alleged sexual harassment of a junior colleague, has now been accused of intimidating the complainant and her husband with the help of other DGCA officials. The official was accused of a similar offence in 2012 as well, by a female pilot from SpiceJet.

According to the complaint, K L Meena, a Regional Controller of Air Safety in Delhi, allegedly tried to sexually exploit the complainant during their stay at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udaan Akademi (IGRUA) guesthouse in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. Meena and the complainant were part of a DGCA team that had visited a flying school in Raebareli in July for a routine inspection.

The complaint said that Meena allegedly called the woman to his room saying he needed to discuss the inspection, and insisted even when the woman said it was well past office hours. The complaint further said Meena tried to force himself on the woman, who escaped and called up her husband.
