Sion hospital prof says Jet Airways’ staffers damaged his brand new bag

Mumbai: A senior professor at Sion Hospital has alleged that his new bag was damaged during a Jet Airways' Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight. Dr Niranjan Chavan, who is also the chairperson of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), lodged a formal complaint with the airlines on Saturday.

Chavan's flight had left Mumbai at 11.25 am, after a 45-minute delay. He was accompanied by his wife and eight other senior doctors. In Ahmedabad, where the group was to participate in a medical conference, Chavan discovered that of the 200-odd bags that came down the baggage carousel, only his was soaked in water.

"I was shocked to find that only my bag was damaged. It had not even been 24 hours since I purchased it," said Chavan, a silver-class member of Jet Airways, who flies at least once a week.
