Two injured as escalator malfunctions at RGIA

Hyderabad: Two persons sustained serious injuries when they fell down from an escalator at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, on Sunday evening.
Venu Gopal Reddy, whose family members, V. Srinivas Reddy and Vanaja, sustained injuries in the mishap alleged that the airport staff deliberately stopped and reversed the escalator since many people were standing on it. “We were moving up towards the departures section on the escalator when suddenly it started moving in the reverse direction at a high speed. As a result many, including children, lost their balance and fell. After this incident, the airport staff did not even bother to provide first-aid,” he said.
