Will Kerala come to Malaysia’s aid?

Thiruvananthapuram: Malaysia, which is facing a dip in the tourist arrivals following the crash of two Malaysia Airlines flights — MH 370 and MH 17 — in five months, seems to be banking on Kerala to bridge the likely shortfall during the “Visit Malaysia Year.”

Tourists from the State are being lured with cheap air fares and hotel tariff, leisure trip, wellness tourism, incentive travel, sports, luxury and high-end travel, shopping, and honeymoon packages.

Tour operators from Malaysia plan to cash in on the connectivity offered by three airlines — Malindo Air, Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines — from Kochi.

The airlines are offering return fare from Kerala to Malaysia for Rs.9,000, which is cheaper than flying from here to Delhi. A four-day, three-night package in Malaysia costs just $106.
