Nagpur airport readies to scan international passengers for Ebola

Nagpur: Following the directives issued by the Bombay High Court on Wednesday, Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport is readying itself for scanning international passengers for Ebola virus.

The Bombay HC directed the state government to provide within 48 hours health screening facilities for Ebola at Pune and Nagpur airports on the same lines as Mumbai airport. A division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Girish Kulkarni heard a public interest litigation by activist Ketan Tirodkar which said India is not equipped to deal with the spread of the deadly virus.

Nagpur has three international flights in a week coming from Sharjah. Tirodkar also submitted an affidavit by the senior regional director of ministry of health and family welfare in which it was mentioned that the state health department has been directed to put in place health screening facilities for passengers arriving at Pune and Nagpur.
