Revolver, six cartridges seized from Patna airport cargo

Patna: The alert authorities of Air India on Monday helped Patna police seize a revolver and six live cartridges from a cargo from Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna. It was being sent from Madhubani district to Indore in Madhya Pradesh as a simple parcel by an Air India flight.

Secretariat DSP Sibli Naumani said one R K Jha was mentioned in both the sender as well as the receiver columns of the parcel. When Jha was contacted, he claimed to have licence of the revolver in his name. Speaking about the motive behind sending the revolver to Indore by cargo, the DSP said Jha wanted to sell it off in Indore and added that the police were looking into the case.

Elaborating on the revolver recovered, she said it resembled those of Kanpur-make and added that while five bullets were in the chamber, the sixth one was kept outside.

Patna airport director Sono Marandi said the seizure proved the high standards of security arrangements and added that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) could elaborate on the incident.
