Navi Mumbai: The town planning authority was inundated with letters of consent for the airport deal on Monday, as the deadline passed.
The exact number of letters received will be out soon but City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) officials at Metro Centre One, Panvel said they were pleased with the response. They allowed people to submit hand-written notes, promising cooperation and participation in rehabilitation package. The villagers, however, have to submit proper documents within two days.
Officials were also pleased that the acquisition process was completed without the need for police protection, as previously feared.
Bombay high court had previously set a deadline of October 6 and asked villagers to adhere to it or be forced to take the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement package.
