PAPs to get more time for consent

Navi Mumbai: Konkan divisional commissioner, Radheshyam Mopalwar said on Thursday that the airport PAPs, who are yet to submit consent letters, can avail of the state government package and also get an extended deadline, as provided under section 11 (A) of the old Land Acquisition Act.

"The Aurangabad and Nagpur benches of Bombay high court had given a stay on a March notification regarding land valuation in May and June respectively. The valuation was to be done under certain provisions of the Central government's new Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement (LARR) Act. The Aurangabad bench had granted a stay on May 26 and vacated it on September 23 while the Nagpur bench vacated it on Wednesday,'' said Mopalwar.

Section 11 (A) of the old Act, factors in the time that was taken during the stay for extending the land acquisition process, he added. So the villagers who are yet to give their consent for the airport land will get more than four months to do so.
