Vijayawada: District Collector M. Raghunandan Rao on Friday said concerns of people who were expected to part with their lands for expansion of the airport at Gannavaram would be addressed by government and asserted that the project was important for the speedy development of the State.
A total of 417 acres was to be acquired for the airport expansion, he said during a meeting with officials, people’s representatives and people from Gannavaram and nearby villages, at his camp office here.
Mr. Rao said the government’s intention was to transform the airport into an international one and asserted that it would not cause any injustice to the farmers and the general public who would be asked to part with their land for the project for a consideration.
