'Airport must be 1 hour away from IIM'

Berhampur: The state government will soon recommend to the Union government to establish the proposed Indian Institute of Management (IIM) near Bhubaneswar, even though the people of Berhampur and Sambalpur have been demanding that the B-School be set up in their respective areas.

"We respect the sentiments of the people of Berhampur and Sambalpur. But we have to select the location by fulfilling the Union government's guidelines," said technical education minister Sanjay Dasburma here on Thursday. One-hour air connectivity was one of the criterion for selection of the site, he said.

He said the Union government's fresh guidelines were known when the department's secretary attended a meeting with the central government officials. The government received the fresh guidelines recently.
