Rupees 18.16 lakh worth of gold hidden in rectum seized

Mangalore: The officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport on Friday busted another modus operandi of gold smuggling and in two separate cases, seized gold weighing 699.900 grams totally valued at Rs 18.16 lakh.

In the first case, the officers seized two gold bars weighing 233.300 grams and valued at Rs.6.20 lakh. The gold bars were extracted from the rectum of the passenger Azees Sulaiman, 37, residing at Udma, Padinchar Post,Kasaragod, Kerala. The passenger arrived at Mangalore International Airport at 7.45am by Air India Express flight No.IX814 from Dubai.
