At airport, fly into Biju's Dakota era

Bhubaneswar: A visit to Biju Patnaik International Airport here will take you on a journey down the memory lane, involving the former chief minister and pilot-patriot. A model of Dakota aircraft, used by Biju, has been put up in front of Dakota, a food court and lounge, developed and dedicated to the memory of the aircraft of Kalinga Airlines. The facility was inaugurated on Tuesday.

"When we thought of opening a food court at the airport, Biju's name and his legacy came to our mind. The Kalinga Airlines, founded by Biju, had 15 Dakotas," said director of the food court Debasish Patnaik. The 20ft X 12ft model of Dakota aircraft was made of reinforced aluminium foil and is suspended from the roof, giving an impression of flying.
