Expert to avert bird hits at airport

Ahmedabad:  Concerned by the frequent incidents of bird hits, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) managing the Sardar Vallbhabhai Patel International Airport have decided to have a full time environmental expert to thwart bird hits by monitoring on daily basis.

The appointment of environment expert becomes more significant as city airport will be hosting several head of state of foreign countries and VVIPs who will be arriving next month to attend Pravasi Bhartiya Divas and Vibrant Gujarat Investors summit.

The proposal to have a full time environmental expert was made following a recommendation sent by the Gujarat Ecological Educational and Research (GEER) Foundation. GEER is assisting the AAI in tackling bird hits and monkey menace. The AAI Ahmedabad has finally sent a proposal to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and AAI headquarters.
