International drug racket busted, Rs 10 crore worth heroin seized

Chennai: Narcotics Control Bureau sleuths from Chennai busted an international drug smuggling racket with links in Delhi, Chennai, Kerala and the Gulf. The team arrested eight people in Kerala in the past two days.

A total of 8kg heroin, worth 10 crore, was seized from the Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur railway stations and Kochi international airport. The destination of the drug was Kuwait.

NCB sources said it was one of the biggest catches in 2014.
The consignment was sent from Delhi through couriers. Chennai was the transit hub for the smugglers, before they flew to the Gulf coun tries from Kerala.

NCB sleuths arrested drug dealers Mohammad Mushia and Shivkumar at the Thiruvananthapuram railway station on Wednesday night. Shivkumar is a native of Madhya Pradesh. "We are questioning them. There could be more consignments," an official said.
