Woman, son mistaken for Ravi Pujari’s family given air tickets by Mumbai cops

Mumbai: Five days after this newspaper reported the detention of a Borivali woman and her child at the international airport, mistaking them for gangster Ravi Pujari's family, the Mumbai police have arranged for their flight tickets. The woman, Shridevi Pujari, and her 15-year-old son Aryan, were detained at the airport for more than 30 hours, resulting in them missing their flight to Dubai.

On Monday afternoon, the family met with Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. "He was apologetic about the incident and told us that though alternative travel arrangements should have been the initiative of the Mangalore police, the same will made by Mumbai police in the course of the day," Shridevi Pujari said.

The detention took place on December 22, when the Pujari family was about to embark on its first foreign trip. Santosh Pujari, 43, a businessman dealing in AC ventilation, and his school teacher wife Shridevi, were at the international airport with their children Aryan and Ananya, 12. They were about to board a flight to Dubai when Shridevi and Aryan were detained.
