Aluva: Dismissing all rumours of a decline in the aviation sector, the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) recorded an increase in passenger and flight services in both domestic and international sectors in 2014 in comparison with 2013.
Going by official data, CIAL set a record in passenger volume, with over 61 lakh passengers travelling through the international airport in 2014. Airport officials inform that this is the second year that the airport clocked half a crore passengers.
As per the latest statistics, more than 61,04,559 passengers had graced the airport, while in the previous year the statistics stood at 52,991,793. The number of passengers had increased by a whopping 15.36 percent.
A similar increase was also recorded in the number of flight services. The domestic sector has also witnessed a similar surge in passengers and flight services.
