Surat: Two months after a buffalo hit a SpiceJet aircraft at Surat airport, the damaged plane was flown to Chennai on Sunday.
The Boeing 747-800 aircraft flight number SG-622 was damaged after being hit by a buffalo on the runway during take off on November 6 last year. It was a Delhi-bound flight carrying around 170 passengers.
Official sources on Monday said that the aircraft's left engine portion was severely damaged in the incident and was parked at one of the hangers at the Surat airport. The technical team had arrived from Mumbai to repair the damaged aircraft. After a two-month long exercise the aircraft was ready for flying on Sunday.
"The aircraft was flown to Chennai in the morning. The flight duration was one and half hours. Now, the aircraft will undergo trial runs, before it can be used again in the commercial segment," said an airport official.
