One person was arrested by the Special Task Force(STF) of Kolkata Police from Bongaon area for allegedly making a threat call of aircraft hijacking to the city office of Air India on Sunday, January 04, 2015.
The arrested person was identified as Prasanta Biswas (35) – a resident of Bongaon of North 24 Pargana, 82 KM from Kolkata city – and he is presently being interrogated.
The threat call was received at the state-carrier’s city booking office at around 5.40 PM yesterday and a complaint was later lodged with the Bowbazar police station.
Security was beefed up at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport here following the telephone call threatening that an Air India plane would be hijacked. The threat perception is based on messages that surfaced earlier, indicating that both Islamic State militants and the Taliban may choose to target India.
