33 nations part of Aero India today

Bengaluru: The world’s eyes are now on defence and technology hub Bengaluru where military and aviation giants from 33 countries will be showcasing their products at the five-day-long Aero India that begins Wednesday. Over 600 companies, nearly half of them Indian in a thumbs-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” theme, will exhibit their military wares at the 10th edition of Aero India, which will commence on Wednesday morning.

Branded as the “biggest” yet, the 10th edition of Aero India will be thrown open by Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday when he lands at the Yelahanka Air Force Station at 9 am.

The five-day show, which will see 33 countries participate, is expected to see a record number of visitors with organisers claiming attendance may touch three lakh.

The F-15 Eagles and the F-16 Falcons, doubtless 1970s aircraft but still part of fighter folklore, the Rafale, which could be cause for a French connection or a heartbreak, Tejas and Su-30 MKIs, India’s pride — they will all be there, as will those magnificent men and women in their vintage aircraft — the familiar Flying Bulls and the first-time-in-India Wing Walkers, and, of course, India’s Sarang team in advanced light helicopters.

The Americans will be the largest contingent, with 64 companies and five of the seven foreign aircraft on flying display, followed by the French with 58 companies. The Russians are not putting up any fighters for flying display.
