Three lakh spectators register for Aero India event

Bangalore: The 10th edition of the bienial Aero India event has lined up five different aerial acrobatic teams to treat aviation enthusiasts to some spectacular stunts over the course of the five day event that begins Wednesday. As many as three lakh spectators have already registered for the event.

The Aero India 2015 will for the first time feature UK’s AeroSuperBatics or Breitling Wingwalkers. Their stunts will take place at a height of over 1100 ft where three British women, 23-year-olds Nikita Salmon, Danielle Hughes and Freya Paterson, will perform hand stands, acrobatics and ballet while be strapped onto vintage Boeing Stearman biplanes that buzz past each other at 150 mph. The Breitling Wingwalkers pilots David Barrell and Martyn Carrington will make close passes and cross over each other and perform maneuvers like rolls and loops.

A stunt team from Sweden will fly Pitts Model 12-S -Viking-SE-XZA biplanes at the airshow. The team will showcase tumbles, micro loops and upward spins of the aircraft. The chief wingwalker, in the team known as the Skycats – Annika Burström, will along with Lisa Henriksson and Hella Stening will also perform mid air stunts.  Another UK based stunt team the Yakovlevs Aerobatic Display Team will fly in to the Yelahanka Airforce station with their Yak 50 and Super Yak 52s. The five-men formation and aerobatic display team will be headed by lead pilot Jez Hopkinson.
