Vijayawada: The recent announcement of Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapati Raju that the Ministry was devising strategies to improve cargo services across the country has given the much needed impetus to the officials to introduce similar services at Gannavaram airport.
The officials included the launch of cargo services at Gannavaram in the master plan prepared for expansion of the airport.
“We initially want to include transportation of newspapers, food products and etc in the cargo services. Based on the response, it will be extended to other products,” a senior official said. Plans have also been chalked out to provide necessary infrastructure for commencing these services soon.
