Flying Bulls' last date with their aircraft

Bangalore: At 66, she is probably the world's oldest pilot and she does no ordinary flying. Leading the famous Flying Bulls aerobatic team, Radka Machova (in pic) is all excited about Aero India 2015. However, a slight dullness was also apparent in her eyes when TOI caught up with her. "You're right, we will be changing our aircraft soon. I know it will be nothing like the ones we are using right now. I somehow like these, but safety mandates that we change," she told TOI.

A senior official from the Wing Defence Exhibition Organisation had told TOI that the Flying Bulls were to change the aircraft and this could be their last show on the existing ones. Radka said: "I feel XA42 was just made for us. We will be using Zlin 50LX next."

Explaining the reason for the success of the German-made XA42, she said: "It allows us to fly in real close formation and we needn't depend on the engine power for a lot of our manoeuvres as this has a great cruising ability."
