Mangalore-Mumbai AI flight sustains tail strike

Mumbai: A Mangalore-Mumbai Air India flight (AI 680) carrying around 100 passengers sustained a tail strike while landing on MIAL's main runway on Sunday afternoon, indicating that the pilot raised the nose of the aircraft hurriedly.

The incident occurred at 2:39 pm. Directorate General of Civil Aviation officials said the pilot has been grounded following the accident. Meanwhile, the airline de-rostered both pilots on board the aircraft and has launched an investigation.

Vivek Gautam, a passenger who was on the flight, tweeted, "15th February is my new birthday. AI 680 gave all the experience of a crash while landing and even the pilot lost control for a few seconds."
