Visakhapatnam: A man who had to go from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai had to take the circuitous route via New Delhi on Sunday (February 8) as the direct flight of Air India was full.
The AI daily direct flight leaves Vizag at 2.40 p.m. and reaches Mumbai at 4.50 p.m. in two hours and 10 minutes. Apart from shelling out around Rs.6,000 more and having to change over the flight in New Delhi, the passenger had to spend over seven hours on travel.
“I had to take the AI flight from Vizag, which left around 9 a.m. and reached Delhi around 11 a.m. My ticket was booked on the Vistaara flight, which left Delhi at 2.55 p.m. and reached Mumbai around 5 p.m.,” says B. Ram Gopal, Chief Manager in the State Bank of India in Mumbai.
Ironically, the Air India connecting flights via Hyderabad take 11 hours to nearly 13 hours to reach Mumbai. “First time travellers and those flying occasionally from New Delhi Airport are facing a lot of difficulties in getting to the right security check area as no announcements are made on the public address system.
