Bangalore: Shifting India's premier air show, the Aero India, from Bengaluru to anywhere else, especially the West coast would not be strategically a good idea, Dr K Tamilmani, director general (aeronautical systems), Defence Research & Development Organization, has said.
To a question asked to him, following Bangalore Mirror's story in its February 10 edition on the possibilities of the venue for the event shifting possibly to Goa, Tamilmani said Aero India should not be moved from this city because Bengaluru is a strategic location, "which is why it was decided to have the air show in this place. He said moving it closer to the western borders or the western coast would not make sense strategically. "I don't know why they would want to shift the venue closer to the western borders," he wondered.
Besides, he said, Bengaluru has been the aviation and defence research and development hub, which made sense to continue holding the event in this city.
