Tiruchirapalli: An unidentified person called up a top airport official here informing a bomb would go off on its premises on Tuesday, police said.
Police and bomb detection squad with sniffer dog conducted a thorough checking after the caller told the air port Terminal Manager at 4.25 am that a bomb had been planted in the airport premises and it would explode at 8 am.
However, the call turned out to be hoax, police said.
Police noted that the call had come from Tirukattupalli in Thanjavur district.
