Pune: International passenger traffic at the Lohegaon airport here grew by more than 22% in the last fiscal from April 2014 to February 2015. The airport stood fifth in the country in terms of percentage growth of international passengers during the period.
Recent data by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) also showed that the Pune airport was the tenth busiest in the country in 2014. Overall passenger traffic here for the entire year (April 2014 to March 2015) grew by more than 17% — up to 4.2 million flyers.
The Pune airport logged 33.11 lakh passengers in the April-February 2013-14 period while, in the same period last fiscal (2014-15), it grew to 38.21 lakh or 3.8 million passengers. Of these, 1.12 lakh were international flyers and 37.09 lakh domestic.
