10 mnths on, Indore UAE flights yet to take off

Indore: International air connectivity to Indore through two Gulf-based airlines seems to have grounded even before they took off. Ten months after Madhya Pradesh government announced that Gulf carrier, Emirates will start operations between Dubai and Indore from December 2014 the first flight is yet to take off.

In August last year, MP government signed MoUs with Air Arabia and Emirates, two prominent airlines from United Arab Emirates (UAE) to provide direct air services between Indore and UAE.

Top government sources confirmed to TOI, "so far operators did not get required permission from Centre."

Madhya Pradesh is waiting anxiously for permissions, but "so far" there is no good news, sources said. A major hurdle is passenger traffic which is not sufficient to make the direct Indore-Dubai flight financially viable, they said.
