KOCHI: Smuggling of gold through the Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) has touched the highest level ever. As many as 44kg gold was seized in the last two months. According to officials with customs house, Cochin, this is the first time that gold amounting to more than 40kg was seized in two months' period.
Kochi customs commissioner K N Raghavan said that there was a spurt in the number of cases and volume of yellow metal seized in the current fiscal when compared to last year.
