Ahmadabad: Day after a cockroach was allegedly found in a sandwich bought from an outlet at the domestic airport, officials claimed they had no idea which outlet provided the unhygienic snack. Interestingly, the officials were also trying to verify if it was an ant or a cockroach in the sandwich. The complaint was filed by Shahibaug resident Asim Khan whose wife Asma Khanhadbought a cheese sandwich from the snack outlet on Monday evening. "My wife and young daughter had accompanied me to the airport. We were there to drop off my father Ayub Khan S Pathan who was scheduled to fly to Pune.
We bought snacks, including the cheese sandwich, worth Rs 900 from the outlet," said Asim, who owns arestaurant in the city. He added, "On spotting the cockroach, we approached the employee at the outlet who said he could not do anything as the manager was not around. We then filed a complaint with the airport officials who apologized and promised to look into the matter."
When Mirror asked officials which outlet had provided the snack, they claimed ignorance. A couple of phone calls later they revealed that the sandwich had been bought from one of the three Saptgiri outlets at the domestic terminal. Mirror contacted the manager of one of the outlets, Ghanshyam Yadav, said, "I do not know which one of the three stores sold the sandwich to the complainant. However, there could be no insect in our items as we do not make the sandwiches here. They come from our outlet outside the airport." He added, "The weather is bad. Maybe that could be the reason why an insect was found in the sandwich.
