Kochi: The high court on Friday ordered Pathanamthitta district collector S Hari Kishore to file a report explaining the steps taken to implement its directive regarding restoration of a stream that was allegedly filled up for constructing the runway for the proposed Aranmula airport.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A M Shaffique issued the order while considering a contempt of court petition filed by Mohanan V of Aranmula through senior counsel Renjith Thampan.
The collector should file an affidavit within three weeks explaining the action taken to implement the court's directive regarding restoration of the stream, the court ordered.
Contempt of court proceedings were initiated by the court against the collector in January after he failed to file a counter affidavit despite a court direction in the case alleging non-implementation of the court's order.
