Mumbai: GMR group has commenced the construction of Mactan-Cebu International Airport's second terminal, the Bengaluru based infrastructure company announced today. The terminal will be complete by 2018.
The project is being executed by GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC), a joint venture between GMR Infrastructure and Megawide Construction Corp. of Philippines. The ground breaking ceremony was held today.
GMR Infra JV won the contract to expand and modernize Mactan-Cebu airport in Philippines on BOT basis for 25 years. GMR Infra is the designated operator for the airport and the company officially took over the responsibility of operations of the airport last November.
Srinivas Bommidala, chairman of airports business, GMR group said, “Given our impressive record of building Delhi airport and Istanbul airports in record time, we are confident that we will open T2 to passengers by mid-2018”.
