'Gun Shot which Took CISF Head Constable's Life Accidental'

Karipur: The high-level officials of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation investigating the Calicut International Airport (CIA) incident, which took the life of a CISF head constable, have primarily reached the conclusion that the gun shot which killed him was “accidental”.  After primary investigations based on CCTV footages, the officials have reportedly learned that the gun was in the hands of CISF sub inspector Seetharam Chowdhari, at the time of firing.

The incident took the life of CISF Head Constable, S S Yadav, who intervened to pacify the tension between Seetharam Chowdhari and Fire and Safety officials.

Civil Aviation Joint Secretary G Ashok Kumar and Airport Authority of India (AAI) member operation G K Choukiya led the AAI team which visited the airport on Thursday. They have inspected the spot where the skirmish had occurred. The officials have also conducted discussions with senior AAI staff at the airport and with CISF senior personnel.

“We have learned from primary investigation that the gun fire was not intentional. We can only confirm it after getting all the details.  The government would take stringent disciplinary action against those who are involved in the incident. We are also looking into the attack unleashed by the CISF personnel at the airport, G Ashok Kumar said.
