New Delhi: Ashok Kumar Bakshi, a Delhi University professor who was director of Mauritius Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) before he was removed, has clarified that he was "briefly detained" at the airport on March 5 as he was leaving for India, and not arrested as was reported by TOI on March 6. Bakshi said his "unceremonious detention" was because he was sought to be questioned about a complaint filed by a private tertiary education institute following TEC`s withdrawal in July 2014 of accreditation of the University of London programmes being offered by this institute. He denied that his detention was on account of his attending office for three days even after the Mauritius Parliament was informed that his contract has been terminated.
