SUSCA May be Slapped in Kozhikode Airport Brawl Case

Karipur/Manjeri: The authorities may take case under Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil  Aviation Act(SUSCA) in the Karipur Airport incident.  SUSCA has been introduced to register cases in incidents affecting the safety of air traffic. In Karipur, two flights had to be diverted and even the Air Traffic Control unit had gone dysfunctional following the brawl that claimed the life of CISF head constable S S Yadav.

However, the recommendation of investigating officer and the state also needed to register case under this Act. The Civil Aviation Ministry may move this way after the completion of primary police investigation. The state has to set up a special court to hear the case if SUSCA is slapped.

“SUSCA has not been slapped in the case yet.  Investigating officers and state has to take a decision on this,” Calicut International Airport director, K Janardhanan said.

The director will convene a meeting of security committee to review the situation in the airport. Airport Authority of India staff, CISF and other persons will attend the meeting.
