Cops probing Maharashtra CM, Rijiju flight delays

New Delhi: A big storm is brewing over the Air India flight delays allegedly caused by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis' entourage and Jammu & Kashmir deputy CM Nirmal Singh last month. In an unprecedented move, the local police of these two states are 'investigating' these flight delays.

AI's Mumbai airport manager and some other staff are learnt to have been summoned to the Sahar thana by its senior inspector on Friday at 10am. The airline staff has been asked to come with the passenger manifest (list of flyers) of the Mumbai-Newark flight AI 191 of June 29 in which Fadnavis was travelling with his entourage.
"The police have sought details like who was seated where and which agents did the bookings," said a source. This flight was delayed as Fadnavis' key aide Praveen Pardeshi forgot to bring his passport with valid US visa to the airport.
In J&K, the police have sought a report from AI's airport manager over the delay of Leh-Delhi flight on June 24 that was allegedly caused by Nirmal Singh and Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju.Three passengers were offloaded to accommodate these two VVIPs and their staff. The Mumbai and Leh AI offices have sought 'advice' from the airline headquarters in Delhi. "AI will seek legal opinion on this issue. We will ask the police as to for what crime and under what section did they summon our employees and seek reports," said the source.
