Chennai: In an apparent case of smuggling, one kg of gold worth about Rs 35 lakh was found abandoned in the toilet of an Air India aircraft which arrived here today from Singapore and seized by customs officials.
According to the Airport sources, the gold was found by conservancy workers in the toilet of the Air India plane that arrived from Singapore and was scheduled to fly to New Delhi.
Later, the Customs authorities seized the gold and were investigating the matter, they said.
