HAL, government sign deal to give tourism a wing

Nashik: The Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and the state government on Saturday signed the memorandum of understanding to allow HAL to use the airport terminal for a lease period of 30 years, promote air service and tourism in Nashik.

T Suvarna Raju, chairman and managing director of HAL and P S Meena, additional chief secretary of state general administration department, signed the MoU during the conference of airline operators at Ozar airprt terminal building near Nashik on Saturday.

"The airport terminal building has been constructed by the state government, while the airport is of HAL. The two agencies have to use the facility to promote tourism in Nashik. As the building is constructed by the government, we need to take care of the building for maintenance as per the conditions," Raju said.

Meena said that though they signed MoU on Saturday, the building had been transfer to the HAL in March. "It is good for the city that the state-of-the-art airport terminal facility is ready for the air service to take off. The private airline operators were invited here today for the commencement of the service.
