New Delhi: A second airport will be set up in National Capital Region (NCR), Union minister Mahesh Sharma informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Without providing specific details, he said the Steering Committee on Greenfield Airports has recommended a proposal to set up an airport in Alwar, Rajasthan. Alwar is not part of NCR.
To a query on whether a second airport in NCR would be set up, Sharma replied in the affirmative.
"The Steering Committee on Greenfield Airports has recommended to the ministry of civil aviation the proposal of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd (DMICDC) for setting up of a greenfield airport at Kotkasim Tehsil in Alwar district, Rajasthan," the minister of state for civil aviation said in a written reply.
The response was to a question on whether the site for the second airport has been finalized.
