State, Coast Guard pay homage to officers killed in Dornier crash

Chennai: Officials of the Indian Coast Guard, Eastern Region, fellow members of ICG and a State government representative paid homage on Tuesday to three officers killed during a surveillance operation, when their Dornier aircraft crashed.

Inspector General S.P. Sharma, Commander Coast Guard Region (East) laid the wreath with guard in attendance at the wreath-laying ceremony held at the Coast Guard Air station in Meenambakkam, Chennai.

Lieutenant General Jagbir Singh, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, senior service officers and civil dignitaries were also in attendance. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the Defence Minister.

The State Government, represented by Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam, paid homage to the departed and a wreath was laid on behalf of the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
