AAI allows budding artists to display works at airports

Raipur: Budding artists from Chhattisgarh have found a new platform to showcase their talent at Raipur airport following Union ministry of civil aviation ministry's directive to Airport Authority of India (AAI) to set up a dedicated art galleries at new terminal buildings for display and sale of works by upcoming painters and sculptors.

Talking to TOI, Airport Director, Santosh Dhoke, said though under the proposal any artist from across the nation can contact the airport directly and display his/her work for 15 days, preference would be given to local artists/painters. He said exhibition space has been provided at the ground floor of Raipur Airport, next to Shopper Stop, in the new terminal building.

He said the space is being provided free of cost to artists since August 15. He said in case an exhibit is sold, 10 percent of the cost will have to be paid to AAI.
