AAI seeks branding at Delhi, Mumbai airports

New Delhi: The state-run Airports Authority of India has asked the operators of Delhi and Mumbai airports to provide AAI branding at both facilities because it is the second largest owner in these airport companies with 26 per cent each.

Both airport companies, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) and Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), have their own logos but they also brand their parent company names (GMR Infrastructure in Delhi and GVK Infrastructure in Mumbai) at their airports. "We have asked them to provide AAI branding at these airports. At the end of it, it's our airport and we are the owners," said an AAI official, who did not want to be named.
MIAL has already sent in a proposal to include AAI to the brand and it is being discussed, the official said. DIAL is operated by a consortium, led by GMR Infrastructure with a 64 per cent stake. Germany's Fraport holds 10 per cent of DIAL. GVK Infrastructure, with a 74 per cent stake, leads the consortium that owns MIAL. DIAL and MIAL didn't respond to emails seeking comment.
