Cleaner and better Chennai airport to greet delegates

Chennai: Passengers flying from Chennai airport will experience an improved ambience with better facilities, as its terminals are getting a makeover to welcome delegates of Global Investors Meet (GIM).

The terminals, including the old international arrival area, have been spruced up, carpets and glass panels cleaned, buildings whitewashed, new artworks installed and exotic plants worth 40lakh are being placed.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has invested more at the international arrival terminal because foreign delegates will be using the old international arrival hall. The new arrival hall is yet to be opened due to shortage of manpower in customs and immigration and absence of a ramp for baggage.
