Facelift for Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore international airport will soon receive a facelift. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) will carry out the work with a special focus on the the departure and arrival areas.

Airport Director G. Prakash Reddy told The Hindu on Tuesday that this was decided after discussions with the Directorate of Planning and Architecture of AAI in Delhi.

The initiative has come based on the recommendations by Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Regional Executive Director - Southern Region - of AAI, I.N. Murthy during their recent visit to the city.

While Mr. Murthy suggested aesthetic changes to the airport, the Aviation Minister wanted the airport authorities to concentrate on making the airport passenger-friendly and functional.
