Visakhapatnam: Creation of a night parking facility at the Visakhapatnam International Airport will not only help a number of airlines but also increase the number of early morning flights from the city, president of Visakhapatnam Air Travellers’ Association Y. Sivasagar Rao has said.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, marking completion of two decades of the association’s service to air travellers of the city, Mr. Sivasagar Rao urged the government to invest Rs.150 crore to create night holding facility at the airport.
“Since the new airport at Bogapuram is unlikely to come up in another 10 to 12 years, there is a need to invest in the expansion of the present airport,” he said.
IndiGo and SpiceJet had already added to their fleet and were looking at convenient locations for night holding of their aircraft.
